BIBLICAL TIMELINE: The timeline below was constructed to help see the major empires from a Biblical perspective, especially as they relate to the visions in the book of Daniel.  Books of the Bible are highlighted for reference in these periods.  The Babylonian, Persian, Greek and Roman empires are the primary players in Daniel and in Zechariah.  A brief period of Jewish self-rule (Hasmonean Period) falls between the end of the Greek Empire and beginning of Roman Empire.
